| My husband and I stayed at the
"La Fayette" apartment in the Marais for 12 nights. We were
celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and New Year 2007. (We
lived in Paris 15 years ago for seven months in another
neighborhood.) The apartment is absolutely charming--very bright
and with the most spectacular view! The photos on the website
are for real. And the famed Paris light does an ongoing light
show on that beautiful mansion. We loved the neighborhood. The
immediate area is upscale and casual. The Marais is a great
place to explore itself, and it's close to other great
neighborhoods--a short walk to the Seine and the left bank. The
metro is nearby and very easy to use. The apartment has two good
sized bedrooms with charming decore and comfy beds. We used the
second bedroom as a dressing room, but it would be a great
apartment for two couples or a couple with a child. The toilet
is in a seperate room from the bathroom which is a plus if you
have several people staying there. There is no elevator, but we
didn't find it a problem. Also, there is no oven, but the
kitchen worked out fine. It has a four burner range, a microwave,
a dishwasher and washing machine, and that view! The apartment
is at the corner of rue des Archives and rue Rambuteau. Rue
Rambuteau has great specialty food shops--cheese, seafood, bread
and pastry, Italian, Chinese, and a good super market, too. And
flowers. Oh, I want to go back! Also, I can't say enough about
Isabelle. She is so kind and lovely and professional. She was
always easy to get hold of and her recommendations online and in
person were excellent. We would rent this apartment again
without hesitation or might try another apartment through
Isabelle just to have another experience. Happy traveling to you. |
