Our apartment experience in Paris was great.  We stayed in the Picasso apartment, which comfortably held my family of four.  It was a "home away from home" for us.  The kitchen, washing machine, dining area, and nice beds and bath were welcome commodities to come back to after a hard day of sightseeing.  The building was totally safe, quiet, and in a great location.  The Metro stations were close, an Internet cafe was next door, and just around the corner (50 feet), were quaint cafes, grocery stores, markets with fresh fruit, baked chickens, great chinese food, shops, and even a park for the kids.  I highly recommend this experience to everyone and will definitely go this route if I get a chance to return to Paris.
