The metro is the most efficient way to travel in the city and is easy
to learn.
When using the métro, you will need to look on your map for the stop
you want, the number of th emetro line that will get you there, and
the name of the last stop (terminus) in the direction you are headed.
Do not panic if you lose your way; there is always a large map in
every metro station for you to use to determine your route. A free map
of the metro system is available at metro stations.
The metro starts at about 5:30 am and sstops at around 12:30 am. The
specific times are often listed on the direction sign at the platform.
One ticket is used for any one-way trip inside Paris, regardless of
the number of metro transfers you make, as long as you remain in the
metro system.
You may be asked by RATP ticket inspectors (controleurs) to show your
ticket at any time in the cars or exits. One-the-spot fines are
imposed if you do not have a ticket or your ticket is invalid.
