The Archaelology Crypt of Paris, on Ile de la Cité, is well worth a visit. The entrance is at the western end of the present Parvis. It tells the story of Paris in mainlyy visual terms. Not a museum, it is intelligently and rather spookily lit. Here we can study the ground-plan of old Paris, examine the foundations of Saint-Etienne and Sainte-Genevieve, look at the heating arrangements for theses old houses, and speculate on exactly where cernunnos must have sat. We can also look with the wonder at the old rue de Venise and try to imagine why a distinguished man like Commissionaire Delamare, colleague of Colbert, whould have chosen to live there, when heh could have been in a country chateau or at Versailles. Perhaps it is the island or the Seine which called him!
