This museum contains 30,000 antique coins, unfortunately only 2,000 are on show. We learn that Gauls had their own coinage, much influence on design by Greece and Rome, but still making a special feature of legendary beasts. The great currency –reformers were the Charlemagne (AD 800), whose empire was so large that its coins were up there with the Euro.

Besides coins the museum also possesses a grand collection of medallions , however out of the 75,000 medallions the museum has, only 450 are on display.
