81- On the corner of the Impasse Robiquet, at the end of the courtyard there was a sign that read “Atelier des élèves de Monsier Carolus-Duran.” Here Sculptors were on the ground floor and painters worked on the floors above. It was here that in 1872 Carolus, mostly known for his painting “La dame au gant” began teaching.

105- Site of the original Café de la Rotonde. The café opened in 1911 and took over the café de Parnasse at number 103 in 1924 and its clientele included Apollinaire, Picasso, Derain, Vlamick, Max Jacob, and Modiglini.

108- Café du Dome. Opened in 1897, and its pre-war clientele included Lenin and Trosky. In the 1920s it became one of the most popular cafés for American artist, writers, journalist, students and even tourist.

135- Formerly known as the Hotel des Etats-Unis. John, Singer Sargent moved into this address in 1875 so that he could be closer to the Atelier Carolus-Duran. Henry Miller and his wife June lived here for a short while in the fall of 1930.

159- Formerly  Hotel Venetia. Edna St Vincent Millay  spend the months of April and May 1922 here with her mother writing poetry under the pen name of Nancy Boyd and published “diary of an American Art Student in Paris”.

 171- La Closerie des Lilas  Ernest Hemingway’s favorite café. He and his friend John Dos Passos would sit here and read aloud old testament books. It was in this café that F. Scott Fitzgerald asked Hemingway to read his latest manuscript in 1925 called “The Great Gatsby” and in the fall of the same year Hemingway read to Dos Passos extracts from the manuscript of “The Torrens of Spring”
