1-  Hotel Trianon Palace. Richard Wright author of “Uncle Toms Children” and “Native Son” stayed here where he discovered that he was a celebrity in France. He was received at the Hotel de Ville and named an honorary citizen.

4-  Hotel Lisbonne. This Hotel which is of the Boulevard Saint-Michel has been home of many American journalists, especially those who worked at the Paris Tribune. Including William L. Shirer in 1925 and Edgar (Ned) Calmer who moved here in 1927 and lived here on and off for 7 years.

16- Mary Putman took a room here in the sixth floor in 1868. A medical student, she    worked in the wards of the city hospitals and like other members of her family she was a fine writer.

32^th – Ford Maddox Ford had an apartment here which he rented to Allen Tate and his wife writer Caroline Gordon and their friend poet Leonie Adams. The threesome took over the apartment in 1929 and lived there for 6 months, Tate was one of the founders of the “Fugitive” a political magazine.

58-    Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald took over this apartment in 1928, and it was here in this apartment that Fitzgerald wrote  the part of the “Tender Night” and two of the Basil Duke stories.

70- Institut Catholique. A former convent of Carmelites, this site had spacious grounds which stretched from Rue du Regard to rue Cherche-Midi.On 1811 the convent was seized and converted into a prison. A month later, 115 priests were taken from the convent and executed. The Carmelites returned after the revolution and rented rooms in some of the buildings in the property. John Vanderlyn lived here where he painted his most important historical picture “Marius Amidst the ruins of Carthage” which won a gold medal in the Academy in the Academy exhibit in Paris in 1808.
