Should you bring your electrical devices to Europe?

BACK TO ISABELLE'S TRAVEL TIPS

If plan to bring some electrical devises to Europe, you need to watch out as the electrical system is different here!

Not only you risk to damade your device (hair dryer...), but you also risk to damage the electric system of the apartment (and you can be hold responsible for that).

So, before packing, you need to make sure your devices are made to travel and that they will not burn if you try to use them in Europe.

I will provide you with a plug adapter (as plugs are different here), but you really need to make sure it is written "100-240 V" and "50-60 HZ"  at the back of your devices before taking them with you.

For your info, a real electrical adapter which allows you to bring any device in Europe is a very sofisticated thing, which costs hundreds of euros (nothing to do with what you can purchase in a Kmart, no matter what the salesman says!), so you need to make sure your devices are made to travel.

Battery chargers and laptops are always conceived in order to be used in both Europe and the US, so this is not a concern, but watch out if you plan to an electrical sharver for instance!

I remind you that I provide you with a hair dryer in all of my apartments, and that I supply you with a plug converter (US-France)....

Iphones, Ipads, laptops.... and others are NOT always compatible with the type of electric adapters I supply, so if you need something specific I recommed you to go to the BHV store, in front on the Hotel de Ville metro stop (line 1), basement floor: you will find all you need (and more) there :-)

see a map to find the BHV
