Walk in Paris!

Start at the Etoile metro and walk down the Champs-Elysées.

Stop at the famous Fouquets at no. 99, an exclusive restaurant declared a historic monument.

Continue to the Rond-Point des Champs Elysées and turn right into the avenue Montaigne.

This is the mecca of French haute couture. You will pass Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Cartier, Givenchy et al., as well as the luxiurious Plaza-Athénée hotel, and, at no. 15, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. Designed in 1911-3 by August Perret, it saw the first scandalous performance of the Stravinsky's Sacre du Printemps., choreographed by Nijinsky. The marble facade and the interior were recently restored and crowned by a controversial restaurant.

Cross the place de l'Alma and take the avenue to Président-Wilson.

Pass the mammoth colonnaded 1937 buildings of the Musée d'Art Moderne and the Palais de Tokyo, both important exhibition centers. On the other side of the avenue rises the imposing Palais Galliera.

Turn right on to the avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie, from the place d'Iéna. The entrance to the Palais Galliera is on this avenue.

Walk straight on, crossing the avenue Marceau with the church of St-Pierre-de-Chaillot on your left, until you come to the avenue George V. 

A short detour to the right takes yo to the neo-gothic American Cathedral. 

Turn left and pass the hotels George V and Prince de Galles before returnig to the Etoile.
