  Walk in Paris!

From the Concorde cross to the Tuileries Gardens beside the Jeu de Paume.

From here you can either walk along the Terrasse des Feuillants, set up by Le Nôtre in the 1660s, and enjoy the view across the garden or follow the archaded rue de Rivoli and its tourist shops.

After an underpass, walk beside the Musée des Arts de la Mode, soon followed by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, before the Louvre itself. At the place du Palais Royal turn sharp left, cross the rue St-Honoré to the Comédie Française and enter the Palais-Royal through a discreet arch.

Here you confront the controversial art installation by Daniel Buren, before entering the gardens proper. Walk to the end, leaving to the left side past the historic restaurant Le Grand Véfour.

Go up to rue des petits Champs. Turn left here, passing the Bibliothèque Nationale on your right, and go to the avenue de l'Opéra.

Japanese restaurants in the side-streets indicate the proximity of Paris's "Little Tokyo".

Turn right toward the opera house, cross the avenue, then turn left and walk down to rue de la Paix

This is Paris's high-class jewelry street, which leads to the no less classy Place Vendôme. The legendary Ritz Hotel occupies the right half of the square.

Go straight on down the rue de Castiglione, until you reach the rue de Rivoli and the Concorde.
