Boredom shsould not be a problem for your children during their stay in Paris. From lessons and workshops to parks and shows,, children can choose from a wide variety of activities to fill their day. Specially designed facilities are installed all over the city and keep the whole age range of children, from toddlers upward, out of mischief. Almost every arrondissement has public squares equipped with sand boxes and/or swings and slides. Although you may think that this diminutive section of the population seems thin on the ground, it emerges visibly on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Puppets:
The infamous puppets (guignols), whose squeaky language won't mean much to a non-French child, are still good value. All function afternoons only on Wednesday and weekends. The following parks provide shows: Montsouris, Rond Point des Champs-Elysees, Champ de Mars, Luxembourg, Buttes-Chaumont, Jardins du Ranelagh and the best of all, Jardin d'Acclimatation in the bois de Boulogne.
Museums:
Top of the list of Museums catering for children comes the Inventorium at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie (metro Porte de la Vilette), where children are encourgaed to crack the mysteries of sciences.
In the same scientific vein but less high-tech is the Palais de la Decouverte, part of the grand Palais.
Children with budding creative talents can participate in one of the sessions at the Musee des Enfants, downstairs at the Musee d'Art Moderne de la ville de Paris or a similar system at the Musee des Art Decoratifs.
And the waxworks at the Musee Grevin never fail to provoke thrilled squeals!
Circuses:
For chilly or rainy days the heated Cirque Diana Moreno in the Jardin d'Acclimatation is ideal and boasts breathtaking acrobats. Also the famous national circus Alexis Gruss. Both circuses have sessions on Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays afternoons.
Outside Paris the field widens, from the Parc Asterix to Thoiry and the famous Disneyland Paris!
