Pariscope and Officiels des Spectacles*
Pariscope and L'Officiel des Spectacles list Paris' cinematic offerings in alphabetical order by their French titles, followed by the foreign title (in English, or German, Italian, Spanish ...). Going to the cinema in Paris is not cheap: expect to pay up to 9 EUR for a first-run film. Students and people under 18 or over 60 usually get discounts of about 25% except on Friday nights, all day Saturday and until the evening of Sunday. On Wednesdays (and often Mondays) most cinemas give discounts of 20% to 30% to everyone. The first film of the day (usually before noon) at some cinema is half-price.
If a movie is labelled 'VO' (meaning original version) it implies that it will be sub-titled rather than dubbled (then if is labelled 'VF' for version francaise). Thus English-language films marked 'VO' will still be in English.
Beyond the cinemas showing Hollywood movies, the following are worth seeing:
- Cinéma des Cinéastes, Paris 17e, 7 avenue de Clichy
- Cinémathèque Francaise, Paris 16e, Palais de Chaillot
- Forum des Images, Paris 1er, grande Galerie, Porte St-Eustache, Forum des Halles
- Le Champo, Paris 5e, 51 rue des Ecoles
- Le Latina, Paris 4e, 20 rue du Temple
- MK2 Bibliothèque, Paris 13e, 128-162 av de France
