Transportation means from the Airport (Roissy Charles de Gaulle) to Paris

BACK TO ISABELLE'S TRAVEL TIPS

There are several ways to get from the Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport to my apartments in Paris.

There are BUSES running every 10 minutes between the "Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport" and Paris: "Place Charles de Gaulle" (metro stop "Charles de Gaulle - Etoile", in front of 1 boulevard Carnot, 75008 Paris).

The journey takes about 50 minutes, and costs 15 Euros for the 1 way ticket, and 24 Euros for the return ticket, per person of course.

This transportation means is not cheap, and does not leave you close to my apartments: you would still have to use a taxi or the metro to "get home"!

=> The bus option can however be chosen if you are heading towards the Marie-Antoinette, Mona Lisa, Colette, St Honore and Charlemagne apartments, as the metro lines 1 and 6 (6 for the Marie-Antoinette, 1 for the other apartments) can be taken at the metro stop "Charles de Gaulle - Etoile" where the bus drops you. You can also get to my other apartments (most of them are close to the metro line 1, except the Moliere), but you will have to walk a few more minutes, with your luggage...

You can also use the RER train service linking Charles de Gaulle Airport with central Paris in about 35 minutes.

This is a better way to commute, as the RER B will bring you closer to my apartments in le marais and the Latin Quarter (but not close to the "Marie-Antoinette"), though it is not very cheap (about 9 Euros/person), and it is very tiring (stairs with luggage...). And you will still have to walk to get to my apartments in le marais, or use a taxi or the metro to reach my other apartments...

=> The RER B option can be used to get to the Beaubourg, Cyrano, Montmorency, and even the Duchesse and Moliere, as they are not too far from RER B stops. You will need to print a street map in advance to find your way to the apartments...

I personally recommend you to opt for a SHUTTLE COMPANY or a TAXI.

The SHUTTLE COMPANY: It is a "door to door" shared service, more affordable than a taxi.

The one way ticket costs 40 Euros for a party of 2 people (27 Euros for 1 person).

They will ask you for a zip code in Paris, and a phone number: both of them are available on the lease agreement I sent you.

make sure you do NOT supply them with MY cell phone number (of no use o reach you!).

There are some pros and cons though: I have been recommending several of these shuttle companies in the past, and did have some negative feedbacks from some of my guests. There are shuttles running about every 30 minutes, so you might have to wait, which is not that pleasant after a long flight. Sometimes they are not as organized as we would like them to be...

Last, a TAXI would cost about 55 Euros  (one way of course, up to 3 people), sometimes more depending on the traffic.

Taxi drivers cannot "cheat" on the rate, as it is written on a screen ... Though the rate is not given in advance, so if you are cought is heavy traffic, it is bad luck :-)

You might want to choose this option if you are a party of 3, as it will be the cheapest, and most comfortable one!

Watch out: cabs can only take up to 3 people, so if you are a larger group, you would rather choose the shuttle company, or even Sabine...

If you are looking for a comfortable option, I would recommend to take a taxi. It costs about 50% more than the shuttle for a party of 2, so it is a matter of priorities.

If you are travelling on your own: you can even try to find another person willing to share the taxi (in the queue). As long as the other person is heading to Paris itself, and not some place in the suburb, it would be worth it for both of you.

And SABINE (the private guide working with me) can organize a private pick up for you, from 100 Euros/one way trip.

This rate is indeed very interesting for groups, as Sabine's van can take up to 8 people.
